LFW 2017- DAY 5: Snippets

And here we are on the last day (Day 5) of the Lakmé Fashion Week – Winter Festive 2017. Listing the highlights from the hotness walked on this ramp.

Back to basics: Skirts.

Skirts are back in vogue, showcasing the feminine grace and classic silhouettes. From tulle, tulip to flute we saw them all. A drape or a front slit or those numerous pleats, creating a visual interplay as we pair those feminine elements to raise the oomph factor.

A fit-and-flare tale

Shriya Som experimented on shades of ivory, blush pink and grey, displaying an exotic range of elegantly structured ensembles with delicately embroidered details and chic tailored classics. With many well-cut fit-and-flare outfits having a stiff lining in the hem, offering some striking structures and shapes. All hearts for this fair of serene elegance.

Lacing up necklines

No no.. We aren’t talking about the embroidered fancy laces literally, its about those tie-up lace necks.

Lace-up details packed a major punch, adding an instant retro touch to everything from staple t-shirts and flowing tops. And now we saw them enter traditional affairs with the ultra-feminine collection by Arpita Mehta. Many silhouettes in silks, chiffons and georgette with intricate mirror work detailing and floral embroideries opted to embrace this lace-up detailed neckline. A must-have neckline for your traditional or fusion flair.

Sheer Luxury

Manish Malhotra offered his ‘Tales of Indulgence’ in almost every language; crystals, sequins and zari work, giant beaded tasselled, corsets, feathers, slit gowns, ornate lehengas, minis with long shoulder capes and so on. But what we could not miss was one of our current favourites, the sheer inserts. That unexpected surprise oh-so-hot element, which easily glams up any outfit and makes you stand-out.

The sheer trend isn’t going anywhere, and the designers are taking everyone’s comfort level into consideration. For all you women out there who are afraid of showing off their skin, try it in small doses before you go for some boldest endeavour and brave those luxuriously voguish and oh-so-chic sheers; fishnet, layers or inserts.

Dazzle with the tassel

Tassels are quite literally hanging almost everywhere we see, from bags, to shoes, to clothes. Those tassels are incredibly easy to incorporate and rapture your wardrobe. Plus, they’re easy to binge on, even when you are on a budget.

Ruffle your feathers

We are loving the mash up of feathers, as they are going to be everywhere this winter. Feathers conceptualise a 3 dimension of drama in a season playing beyond the surface. Designers are embellishing just about everything we can think of with feathers.

It’s a wrap

Wrap-around dresses and tops this season show strong influence; it is versatile and a universally flattering wardrobe staple. An iconic item of the 1970s, reinterpreted with a modern cut for self-assured women, who needs something practical, elegant, and sensual at the same time. Well, thats exactly how wraps make us feel.
